How to invoice as a freelancer (the short version)
Brand the template
Logo, name, accent colour. This is the difference between "invoice from a hobbyist" and "invoice from a professional".
Number it
Use a simple sequential pattern:
2026-001,2026-002. Helps you track and looks legitimate.Itemise clearly
Don't write "design work — $4,000". Write "Logo design — 1 × $1,500", "Brand guidelines — 1 × $1,800", "Two rounds of revisions — 1 × $700". Clients pay clearer invoices faster.
Set payment terms
"Payable within 14 days. 5% late fee per week thereafter." Late fees rarely get charged — but they're often the reason invoices get paid.
Send PDF and follow up
Email or WhatsApp the PDF. Diarise a polite chase 7 days later. Most late payments are pure inertia.

Freelance invoice template FAQ
How do I invoice for hourly work?
Add a line item with quantity = hours worked and unit price = your hourly rate. Line total is calculated automatically. Add multiple lines for different work types (design, dev, calls).
Can I invoice international clients?
Yes. Switch currency per invoice (30+ supported). Tax line is optional — many freelancers invoicing abroad don't charge VAT, but check your local rules.
How should I number my invoices?
A simple sequential format like 2026-001 is fine. The important thing is that numbers are unique and don't skip — tax authorities care about gaps.
Can I save a recurring client?
Not yet — invoice44 is intentionally stateless. Recurring clients and saved line items are on the roadmap, still device-local.
Will my invoice have an invoice44 logo on it?
No. Your invoice is yours. invoice44 never watermarks the document you send to clients.
